Cultivated Interiors, Crafted for Living
Lauren Flax is the founder of Flax-Design, a boutique interior design and build studio on Chicago’s North Shore, established in 2012. She studied at the New York School of Interior Design—the premier interior design school in North America—and trained with designer Alan Tanksley in New York before working with global development firm IBI in Toronto.
An interior designer by trade, Lauren leads a full-service practice, assembling and managing the architect, builder, and contractor team for each project. Her studio works across both residential and commercial spaces, with several local commercial projects currently underway. Flax-Design’s work is defined by a refined, editorial sensibility—layered, material-driven interiors that feel collected, timeless, and quietly luxurious
Lauren lives and works in Glencoe, IL and takes on projects throughout the United States and Canada. As a mother of two and a devoted dog owner, she brings a deeply personal understanding to her work—designing homes that are not only beautiful, but thoughtfully tailored to real life.
