About the founder
Company principal, Lauren Flax began her career at 21 years old interning for Canadian designer Brian Gluckstein. After receiving a graduate degree from the highly acclaimed New York School of Interior Design in 2011. While studying in New York, Lauren worked for two boutique firms, Ryan Korban and Alan Tanksley, which provided a first-hand approach to the nuances of the interior design business.
Shortly after graduating, Lauren returned to her hometown, Toronto to work at global architecture and development company IBI Group, where she collaborated on the design and build of the McGill Hospital in Montreal.
Lauren went on to found Flax-Design + Build in 2012 starting out designing single rooms to full home remodels and then onto commercial development projects.
Lauren is currently working alongside the Glencoe Golf Club and various full home remodels around the North Shore of Chicago as well as homes in the Toronto area.

Flax-Design was founded as an interior design company with a focus on residential design. Since then, the company has grown to encompass the design and development of both residential and commercial projects both in Canada and the US.
